Everything December, 2010 (leading up to Christmas)

It's already February and I'm trying to post about last Christmas, which seems like a year ago. December came in like a roaring lion (a friendly & exciting sort of lion, I guess). Jeff started on as Pastor of Worship & Arts at our new church (part-time) in addition to teaching at the college. Now, for anyone in academia or ministry, you may know that December is one of the busiest months due to end of the semester grading and, well, you know . . . CHRISTMAS. It was a busy month for us planning Christmas Eve services (I helped too by creating some of the design work for the center to help it look more "culturally hip", if you will). But aside from all of the fun work, we did have a blast enjoying the season and taking part in the holiday festivities; from attending the village's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony (which was comprised of caroling, horse-drawn carriage rides, bakedgoods & hot cocoa & candy canes), visiting a super lame Live Nativity scene (I went with my good friend, Christie & our kids), participating in the Holiday Story Party at our local library (the kids had a blast because they all got to listen to Christmas-y stories, sing fun holiday songs, eat tons of candy canes, and open their own presents that each child received from the librarians, which happened to be a brand new book!), to baking tons of our own Christmas cookies, we really did savor the season. In fact, excitement was overflowing to the point where Ella began hanging her own stockings (aka: her socks) and filling them with "presents", which was basically any small toys she found laying around; it was so much fun to watch her creativity bloom & blossom! Grayson enjoyed playing "Christmas morning" as well as "Joseph" while Ella played"Mary". Gavin enjoyed . . . WALKING!!! At 13 months the sweet boy found his feet and began to take off. Amazing! And while we enjoyed the season at it's finest, we had a lot of fun talking each day with the children about the true meaning of Christmas, and how grateful we are for Jesus!

And to make matters more special & "Christmassy" Ella started taking Ballet! Yep. I never would have imagined that me, the old school tom-boy would have a sweet little princess who LOVES LOVES LOVES ballet. And now I too, love, love, love ballet, and everything December.
